Bereavement

Bereavement

The bereavement ministry is provided by the parish to assist the family when a loved one passes away. The bereavement minister extends the condolences of the parish and helps the family plan a funeral liturgy that will be a source of comfort and strength. Family members will work with bereavement minister to select the scripture readings, music, and participants in the liturgy. A booklet called “Through Death to Life” is used to assist with the liturgy preparation.

The minister will also be available at the funeral Mass to assist the family. During the Mass, family members will have an opportunity to participate in such ministries as reader, gift bearers, and presenting remarks from the family at the end of the service.
